Higher Costs & Less Coverage: This legislation could lead to higher insurance premiums and less coverage availability for all South Dakota homes and businesses.
Unfair Burden & Reduced Safety: The bill unfairly shifts most of the risk onto the public, placing the burden on those least able to prevent wildfires, rather than on the parties best positioned to mitigate risk and prevent losses.
